Ola Electric, gearing up for its IPO, has exciting news for potential buyers. They’ve just announced significant price cuts on three models within their S1 scooter lineup, with reductions of up to Rs 25,000. This offer is exclusively available throughout February.
The decision to slash prices stems from Ola Electric’s solid cost structure and robust in-house technology. By leveraging their vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities and eligibility for manufacturing incentives, they’ve managed to restructure costs and pass on the benefits directly to customers.
According to the company, their S1 scooters outshine traditional ICE vehicles in performance, making them a superior choice in the scooter market. Ola Electric claims that opting for their scooters can lead to annual savings of up to Rs 30,000.
Here’s a breakdown of the price reductions:
- The S1 X+ model now costs Rs 84,999, down from Rs 1,09,999.
- The S1 Pro is now priced at Rs 1,29,999, down from Rs 1,47,499.
- The S1 Air is now available for Rs 1,04,999, down from Rs 1,19,999.
Ola Electric isn’t alone in the price-cutting trend. Competitor Ather Energy reduced the price of its 450S model by Rs 20,000 in January to enhance its competitiveness in the market. Likewise, Okaya EV has announced discounts of up to Rs 18,000 across its electric scooter range until the end of February.
It’s not just in the two-wheeler segment either; four-wheeler manufacturers like Tata Motors and MG Motor have also reduced prices on their electric vehicle offerings.
Recently, Ola Electric secured a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian two-wheeler company to receive a Domestic Value Addition (DVA) certificate under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This move is expected to yield a 13% subsidy on sales value.
Moreover, Ola Electric has introduced a range of initiatives covering products, services, charging infrastructure, and battery warranties.
